Peerwith Ambassador Profile
Bing-Hong Huang is a PhD student at the Department of Life Science, National Taiwan Normal University. His interests are in plant specialization and molecular evolution of plant functional genes. Bing-Hong read about Peerwith in a Nature article and after learning that Peerwith would put him in direct contact with author service experts he submitted his first service request, which was accepted by Murray Hay. (See Murry’s peerwith.expert page: http://peerwith.expert/murrayhay)
Talking about his first author service request, Bing-Hong said, “In the end I chose Dr. Murray Hay, a researcher and editor from Canada. I decided to work with him because he has experience in the same field as my research, and listed reasonable charges. By checking out his bio on ResearchGate, I could clearly see that he had both the academic background as well as the editing skills to improve my article. Which he did!”
Bing-Hong then explained why he finds value in being able to directly connect with experts, “Direct contact with experts is a great thing. It really helps being able to communicate with the people who engage with your work. Choosing an expert according to budget is also really beneficial. For these reasons, you can ensure you are teaming up with the right expert. After all, after many months of hard work, you want to be absolutely sure your manuscript in the right hands. Another great advantage about Peerwith is that you can easily re-connect with experts you worked with before. As they know you and your work, this saves a lot of time and hassle.”
Bing-Hong was so enthusiastic about his first experience with Peerwith that he signed up to become a Peerwith ambassador for his institution. To facilitate this, we created an institutional landing page for Taiwan Normal University, which Bing-Hong now shares with his co-workers and co-authors.

To-date, Bing-Hong has completed 12 service requests on Peerwith engaging with a variety of experts. In some cases, these requests have been on behalf of his research group. With encouragement from Bing-Hong, some of his co-workers have also joined Peerwith and we now see a steady flow of requests on Peerwith originating from Taiwan Normal University.
Feedback on services requests submitted by researchers at Taiwan Normal University include:
“I highly recommend collaborations with Dr. Joanna Mackie. She provided many details and revised my manuscript very carefully.”
“Quickly revised our manuscript with many detail. Highly recommended”
“Very fast and precise”
Experts providing services to Bing-Hong and his co-authors have contributed to the publication of many journal articles, some examples:
- Changes of diet and dominant intestinal microbes in farmland frogs, in BMC Microbiology
- Application of DNA barcodes for testing hypotheses on the role of trait conservatism and adaptive plasticity in Acer L. section Palmata Pax (Sapindaceae), in Brazilian Journal of Botany
- The Aboveground Vegetation Type and Underground Soil Property Mediate the Divergence of Soil Microbiomes and the Biological Interactions, in Microbial Ecology
This case study highlights the value researchers give to being able to directly connect with experts who are providing them with an author services and how a satisfied customer is willing to act as a Peerwith Ambassador, as they wish their fellow-researchers to also be able to improve the quality of their scientific work.
