Peerwith’s Statistical and data analysis connects clients with experts with mathematical and statistical background to enable the analysis of the clients’ research data. Peerwith experts will also discuss the results and the conclusion section for the clients’ research report (publication, thesis, paper).
In this case study we look at a Statistical and data analysis service request we received from Suzan, a researcher from Saudi Arabia.
The initial contact
Suzan’s paper got rejected by a journal she had initially submitted it to, and she wanted an expert to go through the comments she received and improve the statistical analysis section accordingly, so she could submit her manuscript to a lower-ranking journal. Suzan requested a service directly from the profile page of the expert she chose, Dr. Kingsley N. Ukwaja , and he offered her a quote within a couple of hours. After Suzan uploaded the reviewers’ comments and the manuscript, the expert explained that for a quote of USD 120 he would provide:
- A detailed statistical review.
- Guidance on how to respond to the reviewers.
- Kingsley promised to finish the work within 48 hours.
As promised, Dr. Kingsley N. Ukwaja delivered the service within two days with an attached message:
Please find attached the statistical review of your manuscript. I can confirm that the statistical issues raised during the review of the manuscript were correct. I have given you a detailed statistical review of the manuscript, I have also given suggestions on how the re-analysis of the data could be carried out as well as a draft of five Tables that could be useful in revising the manuscript. I believe that if you are able to present the Results with the Tables as suggested, you will avoid the statistical issues raised by the reviewers. I will also be happy to perform the re-analysis of the statistical data for you using the guidance given as a separate project (for a separate fee). But I believe that I have provided enough guidance for the re-analysis to be done. Thank you and let me know if I need to clarify any further issues.”
Suzan was very grateful with the work Dr. Kingsley did and indicated that she would like to continue working on the project with him. After Suzan sent Dr. Kingsley the sources of the raw data, he said that he would be able to re-analyse the data and help with the Results section for $450 within 72 hours. Following Dr. Kingsley’s suggestion, Suzan posted another direct request using the button on his profile. It took Dr. Kingsley just one day to perform a new data analysis, and according to the expert, the paper was ready for re-submission to the journal the client chose.
The service Dr. Kingsley delivered was invaluable for Suzan, as after Dr. Kinglsey’s modifications, her paper could be re-submitted to the journal she originally chose, Annals of Saudi Medicine. Suzan was very grateful, and even recommended the expert to her friend.
It is important to note when reading this case study that even though the Statistical and Data Analysis service improves the quality of the client’s manuscript, it does not guarantee that the paper will be accepted in the journal selected by the client.
