of a good About me text.
At Peerwith we
feel strongly about empowering experts which is why we created http://peerwith.expert/ where experts can receive direct service
Your expert page and the ‘About me’ field
More and more we
notice that users on Peerwith visit the expert pages. Therefore, it is really
important to stand out and make sure you introduce yourself in the best way
possible to potential new customers.
The ‘About me’
field is of essence and really is your calling card to clients to request your
service. It should provide information about your track record as an expert. We
strongly advise you to mention your experience as an expert, your educational
background, and what kind of requests you love to receive.
There is no need
to add your own publication history, or copy your full CV. Carefully consider
the length of the text you write. Readers should get a crisp overview of who
you are and what you can do for them. Naturally a short summary of journals you
have published in, awards you have received and current research you are
conducting are worthwhile mentioning. We recommend to aim for 200-250 words as
a guideline. You can add a link to your personal website, or your profile on
Mendeley, LinkedIn etc. However, this link should be at the end of the text and
serve as additional background. Only putting a link without additional wording
as described above will not appeal to readers.
Keep in mind that
researchers seeking support in author services are mostly interested in your
experience as expert, hence it is important to mention previous work you have
done. Have you worked with important
customers, do you have a proven
track record of successful collaborations that resulted in publications,
how many years of expert experience
do you have? Mention it!
If you are a member of learned or editing societies,
please do refer to them as well.
