to know the Peerwith experts episode #1
They get very high ratings for a reason:
the experts on Peerwith are great at what they do. We feel that human
interaction is really important in science collaboration and to help you to get
to know the experts a little better we asked them to answer a few questions. We
will regularly post their replies on this blog.
Tony Ferrar, expert in life sciences
and fluent in English as well as Spanish.
What are the benefits
of offering your services via Peerwith?
The great thing about Peerwith is that
you have the opportunity to connect with clients from all over the world,
clients you wouldn´t normally have access to. The platform is very easy to use
and it keeps on growing! I think the founders are doing an amazing job of
expanding the site and making new collaborations with important partners.
What is the best request you received via
request I received was for a Spanish to English translation of an applied
geography article. It was a great opportunity for me to review an article from
a completely different field than my own, and most importantly, without the
Peerwith platform I never would have connected with this Colombian client.
Do you have any tips for authors, do you see
recurring mistakes in manuscripts?
common mistake I find when reviewing manuscripts is the lack of clarity. More
often than not, I find really long, complicated sentences. It is always much
better to split up difficult sentences and to state your ideas in the simplest
way possible. After all, not all readers are experts in your field!
Do you have any plans for the holidays?
holiday period I plan to take a break from city life here in Barcelona. I will
be traveling around Sardinia, Italy, where I plan to relax, eat some amazing
food and enjoy the countryside. But of course, as a freelance editor I always
take my laptop with me in case a new project comes in!
