Introduction: Tell us (the clients) about yourself
I find discovering and learning new things exciting. I have trained as a research scientist in Biotechnology (MSc, 1999), Molecular Biology (PhD, 2003), Microbiology, and Biochemistry. I have been acting as a substantive science editor for years, and I find helping fellow researchers and learning about their projects
What do you think about the Peerwith
I think that Peerwith is a great initiative, as it
allows a direct interaction between Experts and potential Clients. There is no
anonymity, the personal contact makes the work on assignments more special and
involved. It also allows for a direct discussion of projects and flexible
arrangements. You are under the impression that you’re meeting someone new.
Can you tell us
about your experience with Peerwith?
I have recently connected with a researcher from Germany,
as an editor of his conference paper. That was an exceptional experience, we
first chatted about our expectations, agreed on the deadlines, and the quote. I
found the Peerwith interface very easy to use, and I did not have to wait until
the end of the month for the payment to arrive in my bank account. That’s
important, as freelance editors frequently are paid on monthly or bimonthly
Would you recommend Peerwith to others,
I would recommend Peerwith to others, definitely. I
think that it is important that both the Client and the Expert are in control
from their perspective standpoints – the Clients choose their Experts and
decide whether the task (e.g., editing) has been performed satisfactorily, and
the Experts do not start on the job until an agreement on terms and conditions.
Both parties are involved in defining those terms and conditions. The Client’s
funds are not released by Peerwith until the Client is happy with the job done.
Peerwith creates a safe environment. You can even grow your own network of
academic Clients and Experts.
