Imagine this exciting scenario: You have just completed your thesis and your committee has judged your research to be an important contribution to your field. The logical next step is to publish your thesis as a book, right? But where? Rarely are academic theses in their entirety considered “worthy” candidates for full-book publishing support, as the epistemological scope can be quite narrow at times. What this has meant for the majority of young scholars, up until recently, was to divide their thesis up into publishable articles. If a scholar really has their heart set on turning their thesis into a book, many top-tier publishers will only even consider publishing their thesis if there is unanimous appeal from leading scholars. These overwhelmingly discouraging odds can leave us banging our heads on the academic paywall, pun intended, in frustration, especially since we simply want our scholarly potential to be realized (and with it the blossoming of our careers).
This is where Peerwith introduces a new, innovative Open Access (OA) T2B publishing service with Aldus Press, which underscores professionalism in the presentation and dissemination of research. So how exactly does this service work?
On the academic side, Peerwith has already connected 1000’s of authors and experts across the world, aiding collaboration and improving the quality of academic work. For our T2B service, we have selected a small team of accomplished book editors that offer the peer review, language editing and book restructuring services needed to turn your thesis into a book. You can pick from the following select book editors:
Work with Glenna, an economist and editor with extensive experience editing books. Or choose Josh, a PhD in linguistics, who has edited over 50 academic volumes and authored numerous articles. We also have Marieke on the team, a former academic and well-trained editor. Or you can partner with Karyn, who has a cross-cultural and linguistic understanding that aids in the revision of your manuscript without sacrificing your unique voice. Perhaps Carol is more to your liking – a professional member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), who has extensive publishing experience. And finally, Alison, who supervised and marked theses and dissertations in diverse subjects.
On the publishing side, Aldus Press manages the production and dissemination of the books it publishes under the Open Access model. Aldus has also teamed up with a number of top-tier quality online dissemination services and cataloguing companies to ensure that your work will be discoverable worldwide. And now, through our partnership with Aldus, Peerwith can also help authors deliver the highest impact OA thesis books.
The Aldus Press with Peerwith T2B Publication Model brings everything an academic author needs under one roof and makes publishing your thesis as a book, very simple. We offer this Book Publishing Service in two models:
- The Aldus Press with Peerwith Full-Service model is value-priced from €7.500. For this price, the author receives the services of a book editor of their choice through Peerwith, plus all the benefits of working with Aldus Press. Once the manuscript is fully prepared, Aldus Press will produce the book and distribute not only an online version of the work, but will also provide, *free of charge*, 50 physical copies of the book. This model is also OA in print as any reader can download print-files of the book in order to produce a copy, at low cost, with their local copy shop.
- The Aldus Press with Peerwith Online-only model is priced at €5.000. You receive the same benefits as with the Full-Service Model. However, no free print-ready file is provided. And, should the author or any readers desire to purchase a printed copy of the work, they can only do so through Aldus Press.
